Frequently Asked Questions
Is The Pursuit affiliated with any church?
The Lead and Associate Pastor and many of those who attend moved up from a church in Simi Valley, CA called Cornerstone (cornerstonesimi.com). Although we are not officially affiliated, we are sister churches and we partner with them whenever possible to enhance our impact locally and globally.
Why was The Pursuit started? Aren’t there plenty of churches already?
Although there are many churches, there are not enough churches that are committed to creating a safe place for seekers and skeptics to meet God. There are hundreds of thousands of unchurched people in the Treasure Valley. We want to make sure there is a church for them.
What kind of training does Paul have?
Paul grew up reading, memorizing, and studying the Bible. He attended Grace Theological Seminary (grace.edu) for 2 years. When his father suddenly died in 1998, he returned to his hometown in Simi Valley. He soon began leading worship at Cornerstone. There he gained hands-on training in church ministry and church planting that helped to prepare him for leading The Pursuit.
Why did he choose Boise to start The Pursuit?
Because of the rapidly increasing population, it is an ideal place to plant a church. It is during times of transition that people are most open to spiritual things. Also, the affordable housing allowed Paul to begin the church with minimal personal financial liabilities.
What's the plan for when you outgrow your current facility?
Our desire is to have satellite campuses conveniently located throughout the Treasure Valley in the future. We are not trying to build a mega church; we are trying to reach the community and believe that multiple campuses is the best way to do that.
Does The Pursuit have a youth group?
Our Junior High group meets weekly from 6:45 to 8:15 on Wednesday nights and on Sunday mornings during the second service, and our High School group meets from 6:30 to 8:15 on Sundays. Both evening groups meet at The Pursuit Headquarters. If you have a student that would like to be involved, call Bren our Student Ministries Pastor at 870-4765 or email bren[at]thepursuit.org.
Does The Pursuit have a college or singles’ group?
The Link (http://www.myspace.com/thelinkiswhereitsat) is our college and young adult ministry. The group meets on Friday nights at The Pursuit building at 6:21p.m. Contact James our Young Adult Coordinator at 880-3788 or email james[at]thepursuit.org.
How can I get to know people in the church?
As the church grows rapidly, the only way for you to know and be known by others is to get into a life group. You matter to us and we want to know you. We have life groups meeting throughout the Treasure Valley. Call or email the church to get plugged in!
