Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of The Pursuit Church
God
God is eternally existent in three equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. There is one God who is perfect and holy, all-powerful, and all-knowing. He is without sin and is worthy of completely trusting Him with our lives. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Isaiah 44:6, Jeremiah 32:17, 2 Corinthians 13:14, 1 Peter 1:16, 1 John 3:19-20, Revelation 4:8).
Jesus
Jesus is God the Son, born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life and performed many miracles. Jesus’ death on the cross had the power to forgive our sins and raise us from the dead. He ascended to the right hand of the Father and will return in power and glory (Matthew 1:23, Mark 16:19, John 14:1-3, Acts 1:9-11, Acts 2:22-24, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Revelation 22:12-13).
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin and lives inside every follower when they surrender their life to Jesus. The Holy Spirit leads and comforts God’s followers and empowers and equips them with gifts to serve in the church (John 14:1617, 26; Romans 8:9-11; 1 Corinthians 12:7-11).
The Bible
The Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God for the Christian faith. It is without error in its original documents. Although culture changes, the Word of God does not, and we will continue to derive our beliefs and way of life from the Bible alone. (2 Timothy 3:14-17, 1 Thessalonians 2:13)
Mankind
All of us are broken, and our sin has separated us from God. There is nothing that we can do to earn our salvation, but it is only possible by what Jesus has done for us on the cross. We are saved by God’s grace through faith when we sincerely invite Jesus to forgive our sin and surrender leadership of our lives to Him (Romans 3:23-25, 5:8-9, 10:8-10; John 14:6; Ephesians 2:8-10).
The Cross
We exist in God the Father’s holy presence at all times. Even in our broken world, we know the Father is in control. Out of His love for us, He orchestrated and carried out the plan of salvation and is still actively working out His plan today. We, as His children, are invited to live in a direct, personal relationship with Him through prayer and the reading of His Word, the Bible (Psalm 24:1, 121, 139:7; John 3:16; John 6:40, 65; Romans 5:8; 1 John 3:1).
The Church
Every follower is called to join a local church to experience community, to encourage one another, and to be led into a deeper relationship with God. Together, we seek to accomplish the God-given mission of reaching the entire world with the love of Jesus (Matthew 28:16-20; Acts 2:42-47; Ephesians 2:10, 19-22, 4:1-16; Hebrews 3:12-13, 10:23-25; 1 Peter 4:8-11).
